2018 – Year of the Dog
It’s the Year of the Dog according to the Chinese Zodiac.
There are 12 animal zodiac signs in the lunar calendar and the Dog is one of them.
The legend goes that when deciding on the animals to represent each of the twelve years, the Jade Emperor organised a race and the first 12 animals to finish would be chosen. The Dog, despite being fast, got distracted and started playing instead, so came in eleventh place. The Rat tricked the Cat out of the race, and won, becoming the first zodiac sign. The Cat missed out on a place altogether, so there is no Cat Zodiac sign, and Cats have hated Rats ever since.
Anyone born in the years 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1984, 1996, and 2006 have the Dog as their zodiac sign according to the lunar calendar. Dog people, as you can imagine, are honest, friendly, faithful, loyal, smart, straightforward and have a span sense of responsibility. However, they can also be self-righteous, cold, stubborn and critical of others.
The experts predict a year that brings opportunities and prosperity, but also unpredictable situations. Dogs will have good luck in nearly every area of their life this year, so long as they are patient and tenacious. Wearing amethyst and jasper will help with proper energy flow.
If you were born in the years of the Tiger, Horse or Rabbit, you will be the luckiest ones this year, but to enhance your fortune, you should place green plants (money trees) in pots decorated with jade crystals or coins in your living room.
Snakes among us will have a better year than last year, and can make it even better with haematite and carnelian crystals.
Monkeys and Pigs are going to have a quiet year, but be prepared for opportunities arising.
Dragons are in conflict with Dogs, so this year will be challenging, and introspective. Be careful of your health and watch your diet.
Rats will be busy with social occasions and enjoy relaxing on holiday this year.
Goats, Ox and Roosters will feel a little uneasy emotionally and should listen to their inner voice and work harder on their relationships.
So let’s all celebrate the new lunar year by appreciating those qualities of loyalty and honesty and unconditional love, that we admire in our real canine pets, and some of our human family and friends.
